The Hand That Rocks the Cradle

I received this yesterday and thought it was so special I want to share it with everyone. so it will be my quote and story for today.

Woman, how divine your mission
Here upon our natal sod!
Keep, oh, keep the young heart open
Always to the breath of God!
All true trophies of the ages
Are from mother-love impearled;
For the hand that rocks the cradle
Is the hand that rules the world.

Blessings on the hand of women!
Fathers, sons, and daughters cry,
And the sacred song is mingled
With the worship in the the sky ---
Mingles where no tempest darkens,
Rainbows evermore are hurled;
For the hand that rocks the cradle
Is the hand that rules the world.
William Ross Wallace

It doesnt matter what you believe, the power of women cannot be denied. We are the ones in charge of life and how offspring shape-up is in our hands. Any debate on this subject?

Mother's Day

As today is Mother's Day I want to write my Mom's favorite quote:

"How like a serpent's tooth it is to have a thankless child." Shakespear

I never saw myself as this but she must have. :)

My story for today comes from my #1. She sent me a gorgeous, huge bouquet for Mother's Day, lovely card and we talked for some time on the phone. Here is the story --

Sleeping soundly, she was awakened by a lot of noise, banging on her windows and a shouting of ' Your house is on fire, your house is on fire." All of this about 2 a.m. As she crawled out of bed, threw on some clothes, she told me she could smell smoke. When she got outside there was this man, drunk, obviously on his way home from the bar, jumping up and down, yelling, "Your house is on fire, do you have a hose?" #1 pointed out he was standing on the hose. He unstood himself and they proceeded to get water on the fire which had started in the garage. #1 informed me he jumped a 4' high fence and only God knows how he managed that, must have had some of help from above. Anyway the garage and house were saved, #1 is fine and repairs have started. I wondered why I hadn't heard from her. No phone, no computer and too busy at work. The flowers make up for it all. A typical Mom - me.

Learning/Books

"Learning makes a man/woman fit company for themselves" Young This is my quote for the day. Think about it.

Story for today: I honestly found this in a book!!

STUDIES OF THE VERNACULAR
"Onnust?" "Sright!" Oakum off!" "Sure zima stanninear." "Jah mean it?" "Ubetcha." "Ooseddy did?' "Burlova there." Wah sheno bout it?" "D'no. Swatshesedd." "Oakum off!" Yercoddin." "Thinkso fu wanta. Bawcher Chrimus gifs?" "Nochett. Bawchoors?" Naw. Saylookeer!" "Watchasay?" Jeer baw Tomman Lil-----" "Notsloud! Somebody learus." "Lettum. Nothinmuchno how." "Quitchercoddin." "Oakum off! Believe it or not, this was written in 1913!! Blew me away. I have read it afew times and part of it makes sense but not all of it as yet. Guess this is just another reason I push education and READING - READING - READING all the time. :)

My Promise for May 2

Quote for today:

"We cannot always oblige, but we can always speak obligingly." Voltaire

Story for today: Practical!

Soon after the first baby was born, a certain man's wife went upstairs one evening and found him standing by the side of the crib and gazing earnestly at the child. She was touched by the sight, and tears filled her eyes. Her arms stole softly around his neck as she rubbed her cheek caressingly against his shoulder. He started slightly at the touch. "Darling." he murmured dreamily, "it is incomprehensible to me how they can get up such a fine crib as that for 99 cents."

I told you these were OOOOOLLLLD stories. :) How about $5.99?

Today's 1 may Story

I sometimes feel this way about my blog when I have no 'fellow bloggers' reading.

In Boston, a young lawyer, who spent most of his time trying to seem busy and prosperous, went out for a while, leaving on his door a card neatly marked:

"Will be back in an hour."

On his return he found that some envious rival had inscribed underneath, "What for?"

Please do not be of envious nature, it makes one ill and I can take your stuff so go ahead, blog at me. :)

Promises

I promised to give you another proverb everyday. I am late. Sleepy and need to practice my harp. ha

'Dost love life? - then do not squander time, for that is the stuff life is made of. Ben Franklin

Like this one?

Oh! He-- What next--

Oh hell what next? I have decided to share alittle more of my life. I HAVE FOUND THE PERFECT HOUSE FOR ME, I cannot buy it until I sell the house I am in or rent it. Dadburn it I am so upset and will lower the price of this house to rock bottom or maybe rent it out if I can find a proper price for a renter and give them a 2 year contract. Anyone with ANY ideas, feel free to tell me or offer any advice you might have. I know this is the worst time to sell but I am in love with the new house. I am certain it was made for me. Wish I had a happy face to put here. PLEASE RESPOND, I AM SO NICE.
